Frosty windows and glistening streets are winter’s homecoming treat to us. Like wonder at first sight, we smile upon opening the blinds and call out to each family member to look outside. And for a moment, we’re all children again as we enter into the delights of God.
What a beautiful gift to be frozen in awe of Him. To ponder that God created each snowflake to be one of a kind, that He knew we’d need a change of pace and rest, and that He’s given us a special time of year that inspires gathering together.
So while the icy chill is here, let’s seek joy in this winter season worth embracing. Let’s count each cold day as a blessing, a preparation of our hearts as Jesus’ birthday comes around. Let’s cultivate traditions of home and warmth and hospitality. And let’s intentionally celebrate the faithfulness of God, thanking Jesus for being with us in every season. Because even while we were cold and hardened ourselves, God sent Himself for us. That while no one wanted to make extra room for Him, the Prince of Peace pursued us all the way to make all the room for us in eternity. He’s the warmth + delight of our hearts this season.
